Myna Speaks

Overview

Myna Mahila Foundation creates a network of female entrepreneurs by empowering them with employment at Myna’s Pad Production Facility. Initiatives like Sponsor a Girl that attract 100 young girls every Saturday, curious to learn about their bodies, receive menstrual education and a sanitary kit to last them 3 months. Together we have reached 10,000 women at the doorstep in the urban slums of Mumbai conducting health camps, pad parades and ongoing research.

Why

Menstrual Education is every menstruators right and to aim for the best menstrual health management in India, it is key to create collaborative spaces for researchers, educators, government officials, product makers to discuss culture, inclusivity, waste management, awareness and education during periods in India.

"How can we (NGO’s) educate Indian menstruators and collaborate with policy makers to establish sustainable, waste-free, healthy, hygienic and inclusive periods in the Urban Slums of Mumbai?"

Process

Branding & Style Guide

In order to set a consistent design language it was crucial to define our branding early on. After brainstorming the soul of Myna and the vision for Myna Speaks, my designer Revati and I shortlisted 3 words that embodied our conference theme.

Project Management:

We used Google Drive to organize our files including budgets, speaker tracking, sponsors, key tasks, design updates, marketing checklists and to-do items.

Communication:

Despite being a virtual team, we had great communication and transparency. WhatsApp groups were the primary mode of sharing progress. While 1-1 phone calls and Zoom Screen Share were used for check-ins and team meetings.
